Vito A. Sagliano

husband, father, retired U.S. Navy Seabee, small business owner humanitarian

With a simple view in life his intent is to leave each day, and each person, a little better off than how it started. This goal began through his service as a United States Navy Seabee. During his military career he earned a variety of honors and accolades in response to military operations ranging from direct war efforts to the humanitarian relief both home and abroad, assuring those at home could sleep at night knowing that he, and others like him, stood guard. This unique view gave him a direct insight into the world of policies and politics that affected his neighbors and those a continent away. Being a man of honor, he used his leadership roles as a chance to not only streamline the varied command platforms by cutting costs to the Department of Defense, but he bettered the lives of those who served under him both professionally and personally.

This view carried through his military career, as well as through community involvement volunteering for a variety of causes. These causes ranged from humanitarian assistance with such companies as Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross to community and church foodbanks, outreach programs, historical societies, and directly through his trade.

Through his time as a steelworker and welder, his direct role in a variety of operations became his source of expertise.  He articulated that knowledge in a positive manner by giving a new start to his new career outside the military and becoming a proven asset within his new workforce.

These skills, expertise, knowledge and personal drive lead to the creation of a private small business, VAS Technologies, in 2012. Upon the end of his service to the nation, decisions had to be made for what was best for his family.  He supported his wife by building their family home in Knoxville, Tennessee, and closed the doors to VAS Technologies in 2016 to build a small business for his wife in West Knoxville.   Since then, he has assisted his wife with her business, but primarily spent time relaxing and enjoying a normal family life like those he left years ago to serve his nation.
